More than 4 million Americans have hepatitis C. Most people with the disease don’t know they have it because symptoms are elusive and often don’t show up for 20 or 30 years. Two out of three people with hepatitis C are baby boomers. Some doctors say all baby boomer adults should be tested for it.

It’s not just baby boomers who should go through with the process of Hep C testing as there could be many more people who have the disease, without even being aware. If you have knowingly injected yourself in the bloodstream with recreational drugs, have got either HIV or AIDS, or have had blood or organs donated to you before the year of 1992, then you could have also contracted the disease. Getting yourself checked at your local healthcare clinic can help you to determine for definite whether or not you have the disease and can then follow the necessary guidelines depending on the result. You should do this before it’s too late.

Alpine Communications has been tapped as one of 12 public relations firms nationwide to raise awareness of this disease. The story was published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. AOL’s Decatur Patch also covered the story.
