Alpine Supports Emerge Scholarships for Georgia Women; Secures Atlanta PR and National Media Placements

Alpine is proud to support Emerge, a non-profit organization that gives scholarships to Georgia women who have overcome life challenges such as divorce, financial hardship and other obstacles. Since 2001, Emerge has empowered 100 women by providing more than $500,000 in academic scholarships. These educational experiences, combined with encouragement and support from Emerge volunteers, give women the opportunity to advance professionally and become self-sufficient. Alpine provides public relations services for Emerge, garnering significant media exposure in Atlanta print and broadcast media, including two stories in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a feature on Good Day Atlanta and nationally with a recent story on Mashable.

Alpine helped get Emerge into the Atlanta Journal-Constitution by tying into a story around graduation time. One of the Emerge recipients, Bonnie Johnson, had to put her college plans on hold more than 20 years ago due to divorce, raising children, including one with disabilities, and several bouts of breast cancer. Her story of overcoming obstacles and achieving her goal of graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from Kennesaw State University caught the attention of the AJC.

We also pitched a story about Emerge and the other award recipients to AJC’s Doing Good column, a great place to feature companies and organizations giving back to the community.

Next came TV. We thought the story would be of interest to TV because there are so many women who could probably relate to Bonnie’s story. Thanks to Alpine’s connections with some of the on-air personalities, we were able to secure an interview with Fox 5 Atlanta anchor Ron Gant, who traveled to the recipient’s workplace to do the story.

News spread and the local story was soon picked up by Mashable.com, an online news site. Everyone was excited about the positive media coverage for this deserving organization.

Alpine Supports Atlanta’s Health IT Community, Providing Marketing Strategy and Garnering Attention by Local and National Media

Atlanta is known as the health IT capital of the country, and each year hundreds of health IT professionals gather for the Atlanta Health IT Leadership Summit. It’s a chance to hear the latest information from local and national health IT experts on healthcare trends and other issues affecting payers, providers and patients.

Georgia has more than 200 health IT companies of all sizes, from startups to the largest enterprises in the country, according to a recent article that featured one of last year’s sponsors. The article states: “They employ approximately 30,000 people across the state. The Metro Atlanta Chamber reports that eight metro Atlanta companies rank among Healthcare Informatics’ top 100 vendors with the highest revenues earned from health IT products and services in the nation. Their cumulative revenues total almost $5 billion.”

Last year, I was honored to serve as chair of the Marketing Committee, working with healthcare leaders and other professionals to market the event, including writing press releases and sharing information with the media. I also developed the Summit’s marketing brochure, which was used to attract corporate sponsors and encourage attendance. In 2015, as a member of the Marketing Committee, I interviewed the keynote speaker for an article that appeared on the Atlanta Health IT Summit website.

More than 400 health leaders attended last year’s event, sponsored by McKesson, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Intel, Morris Manning & Martin, Emory University and Georgia State University. The event focused on who’s responsible for healthcare: payers, insurers or the consumer. Much discussion centered around the fate of the Affordable Care Act, as well as market forces driving consumer engagement, the physician’s perspective and the impact of Atlanta’s digital health companies.
